12.10. System of additional safety (SRS)

All models considered in the real Management are equipped with system of additional safety (SRS). The structure of system includes four (two face-to-face and two lateral) safety cushions, and also emergency natyazhitel of seat belts of forward seats. The system provides additional protection of the driver and the forward passenger of the car at strong face-to-face and lateral blows, and also when capsizing car (depending on a complete set). A brain of system is including self-diagnostics and feedback contours the SRS control unit (see the illustration Cхема of an arrangement of control units of various systems on Infiniti QX4 cars), the nervous terminations — sensors of the directed overloads and the control sensor in the block.


Functioning principle

Necessary condition of activation of safety cushions and emergency natyazhitel of belts is operation of sensors of the directed overloads and the control sensor. Operation of sensors leads to short circuit of a chain of modules and instant filling of pillows with gas, and also to activation пиропатронов emergency natyazhitel (see illustrations the Scheme of activation of face-to-face safety cushions and emergency natyazhitel of belts and the Scheme of activation of lateral safety cushions and emergency natyazhitel of belts). In case of battery failure operation of elements of system occurs at the expense of the energy developed by knot built in in the SRS block of feedback.

Operation of face-to-face safety cushions and emergency natyazhitel of belts occurs only at head-on collisions in borders of 30-degree sector and at relative speed of movement not less than 30 km/h.


System of self-diagnostics of refusals of SRS

The system of self-diagnostics of SRS makes inclusion of a control lamp on an instrument guard of the car at ignition key turn in the situation ON. If the system does not find any deviations, the lamp should go out about 6 seconds later. If shutdown of a control lamp does not occur, or the lamp works during car movement, therefore, in SRS system malfunction is found. The corresponding diagnostic codes register in memory of the onboard processor and their reading can be made by means of the special input reader of the skanerny type connected to the DLC socket of the car (see. Head of the Power supply system and management). For check of system and elimination of the reasons of the revealed refusals the car should be driven away on car repair shop.


Service of the knots located near the SRS components

In case of need removal of a steering wheel, or carrying out service of a radio receiver or other components located near the dashboard try not to allow rassoyedineniye of electric sockets of a chain of SRS. At all do not connect to SRS chain any diagnostic equipment! AT SERVICE of ALL COMPONENTS LOCATED NEAR SAFETY CUSHIONS ALWAYS PREVIOUSLY DISCONNECT SRS (see below).

Electroconducting of a chain of SRS is easy for distinguishing on bright yellow color of isolation.


SRS system shutdown

The SRS system should be disconnected each time at performance of procedures of service of the components located near safety cushions!


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Switch off ignition and all onboard consumers of the electric power. Disconnect from the battery at first a negative wire, then positive. Before starting service of components, wait not less than 1 minute during which the condenser of the emergency SRS power supply should be discharged.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped with a security code before disconnecting the battery make sure that have the correct combination for audiosystem input in action!


Precautionary measures


Precautionary measures of the general character

Listed below a precautionary measure should be undertaken before the beginning of performance of any works on service of the cars equipped with SRS system.

  • Do not disconnect the storage battery at the working engine;
  • Before the works beginning near an arrangement of the elements SRS, removal of any components of system, carrying out on the car of welding works without fail деактивируйте systems (see above);
  • Do not try to carry out system diagnostics by means of testers, multimeters or other measuring devices;
  • At operation of a control lamp of SRS, or the suspicion on malfunction of system takes place, immediately drive away the car on car repair shop for carrying out detailed diagnostics of SRS with use of the special equipment. Do not try to see off independently at all diagnostics or dismantling of any components of system!


Precautionary measures necessary at address with safety cushions

  • At transfer of the module of a safety cushion hold it the face from itself. safety cushion pillow up;
  • Do not cover the module removed from the car hands;
  • Try not to drop and not to shake the module — when falling from height more than 50 cm the module is subject to replacement;
  • Do not try to assort the module;
  • Do not allow contacts of any electronic devices to any electric components of SRS modules.
  • Do not allow hit on the module of a safety cushion of solvents or cleaners — in case of need wipe a surface of the module slightly humidified rags.


Precautionary measures at storage of safety cushions

  • Store the safety cushion module in the closed rack the face up;
  • The temperature of storage of the module should not exceed 90°С;
  • Do not come nearer to the safety cushion module with open fire;
  • Utilization of safety cushions should be made according to requirements of the local legislation;
  • At all do not establish on the car a safety cushion, being not absolutely sure of serviceability of its condition.
