2.6.5. An operations procedure at an engine overheat

At an engine overheat movement of the car should be suspended!

At an exit of indications of a measuring instrument of temperature of cooling liquid (see. The car equipment, an arrangement of devices and governing bodies) or appreciable decrease developed it is necessary to operate with the engine of capacity as follows:

- Slow down speed and take away the car on a roadside. Cock the parking brake and transfer the AT selector lever to the situation "R".

Before disconnecting the engine, make sure that the light indicator of modes of a transfer case and/or a control lamp of inclusion of a 4LO mode is switched on, and the alarm indicator of refusal of inclusion of the AT (ATR) parking function — is switched off (see. Car equipment, arrangement of devices and governing bodies)! Do not suppress the engine! |
- Switch off the air conditioner, open all windows and include on the maximum productivity system of heating of salon and the heater fan (see. Comfort).
- If the overheat of the engine is connected with long lifting uphill or the raised air temperature, lift engine turns to value of fast idling (about 1500 in a minute) and wait normalization of indications of a measuring instrument.
- Leave the car and visually and, before opening a cowl, aurally make sure of lack of signs of steam formation and leakages of peregrety cooling liquid.
- Carefully open a cowl — prepare to that leakages of steam nevertheless can take place.
- Visually estimate a condition of driving belts, check serviceability of functioning of the fan of system of cooling. In case of identification of signs of leakages of cooling liquid, break of a belt of a drive of the fan of system of cooling or refusal of functioning of the last for any other reason, muffle the engine.

Watch that your hands, hair and free elements of clothes did not get to contact to moving components in an impellent compartment (driving belts, a krylchatka of the fan, etc.)! Remember that the fan of system of cooling at the hot engine can be activated any minute! |
- After cooling of the engine start it (if suppressed) and check liquid level a broad tank of system of cooling, in case of need make the corresponding adjustment (see. Head
