2.5.8. Features of driving of the car with automatic transmissionFunctioning entering into a standard complete set of the Infiniti car 4-step automatic transmission (AT) is supervised by the special electronic module of management (TCM) that is guarantee of smoothness of switchings and efficiency of return of the power unit.
Below the basic principles of management are stated to the equipped AT by the car. See also section Use of the all-wheel drive mode, devoted to features of driving in an all-wheel drive mode.
Start of motion

- Having started the engine, firmly squeeze out a pedal of a foot brake and, having pressed the push-button switch on the handle of the lever of the selector, deduce the last from the situation "R" "/N", having switched transmission in a demanded operating mode («D», «R», «2» or «1»).

Used on Infiniti AT cars has such design that transfer of the lever of the selector from the situation "R" in any of working provisions at the included ignition is possible only at the squeezed-out pedal of a foot brake. At a key turned in the situation LOCK or taken of the ignition lock the lever conclusion from the situation "R" is not obviously possible. |

Before transfer of the lever to the provisions "R" or "R" it is necessary to make sure of completeness of the termination of movement of a vehicle! |

At low level of a charge of the storage battery the lever of the selector can be switched in position ASS of the ignition key. |

- Release lay and foot brakes and gradually begin movement. In order to avoid breakthroughs at a start of motion do not disperse the engine idling.

Precautionary measures at movement
Start of the engine is possible only in the positions "R" or "N" of the lever of the selector. In other provisions of transmission the engine should not be started!
Do not squeeze out a gas pedal when translating the lever of the selector of the situation "R" or "N" in any of working provisions («D», «R», «2» or «1»), a pedal of a foot brake hold squeezed out before end of the moment of switching.
Remember that turns of idling of the cold engine are always slightly higher, than at heated-up — be careful at inclusion of modes of movement as to lobbies, and a backing.
Avoid sharp start and pro-slipping of wheels. It is not necessary to disperse the engine idling when the car costs — it can lead to a sudden troganiye if the selector is established in situation "D", "R", "2", "1", or to engine breakage if the selector is in the situation "N" or "R".
Remember that transmission switching on a low gear during movement on a slippery covering is fraught with loss of coupling of wheels with the road and control loss over management.
It is forbidden to switch the selector in the situation "R" or "R" to a full stop of the car!
At a parking, even for short time, it is necessary to transfer the selector lever to the situation "N" and to cock the parking brake.
In case of a car stop on a steep slope it is necessary to squeeze out a pedal of a foot brake (previously having switched the selector in the situation "N") to hold the car on a place and to protect transmission from an overheat.
At a parking squeeze out a pedal of a foot brake and when the car will finally stop, move the selector to the situation "R". Cock the parking brake and release a pedal of a foot brake.

For switching in the situation "R" and also when translating the lever of the selector from the situation "N" in the situation "R", of the situation "R" in situation "D" and from situation "D" in situation "2" squeeze out the blokirator button. Positions of the lever of the selector of ranges of transfers

Situation "R". Always transfer the lever of the selector of ranges to the situation "R" at a parking of the car or engine start. To deduce the lever of the selector of ranges from the situation "R", it is necessary to squeeze out a brake pedal, previously having released a gas pedal. |

Situation "R". In a range of "D" automatic gear shifting of a forward course depending on speed of the car and degree of pressing an accelerator pedal is provided. During car movement you can notice that automatic switchings on the highest transfers occurs later, that is at higher speeds of movement if the engine of the car is yet heated-up to normal working temperature. It provides faster warming up of the engine.
Situation "2". At inclusion of a range «2» automatic transmission will constantly work at the second transfer. At a car stop the transmission does not pass to the first transfer. Continuous inclusion of the second transfer provides good traction dynamics of the car on liftings and possibility of intensive braking with the engine on abrupt descents. The range «2» is recommended to be included at a start of motion on a slippery paving, and also at movement on snow. It helps to prevent strong pro-slipping of driving wheels of the car.

Situation "1". At inclusion of a range «1» automatic transmission will constantly work at the first transfer. This mode is intended for movement on very steep slopes, deep snow, sand and dirt and also when maximum efficiency from braking by the engine is required.
Do not make switching in a mode "1" at movement with the speeds exceeding listed below value, do not disperse the car above these values at the included mode "1":

Removal of blocking of switchings
Removal of blocking of switchings of the lever of the selector for its conclusion from the situation "R" at the discharged battery
At low level of a charge of the battery selector transfer from the situation "R" can appear impossible even at the pedal of a foot brake squeezed out against the stop and the pressed button on the lever handle.
In case of need blocking can be removed mechanically for what it is necessary to wring out the button of removal of blocking by means of the suitable tool (the blokirator button on the lever handle also should be wrung out) (see an illustration Removal of blocking of switchings of the lever of the selector for its conclusion from the situation "R" at the discharged battery). Automatic switching of transmission on a low gear (Downshift mode)
When overtaking, or for fast pass of an inclined site of the road press against the stop an accelerator pedal — it will lead to switching on lower second or first transfer, depending on the current high-speed mode of movement of the car.
Shutdown of raising transfer (About/D OFF)
At a start of motion transmission automatically passes each time to a mode of raising transfer when the increase in speed of movement is accompanied automatic transfer increase.

Besides, at long movement on low speed, or on long smooth liftings, transmission can constantly be switched between the 3rd transfer and raising, causing feeling of discomfort. In such cases also it is recommended to switch off raising transfer. When raising transfer is disconnected, on the dashboard the corresponding control lamp of O/D OFF (is activated see. Head of System of cooling and heating). After traffic conditions are normalized, again include raising transfer.
In order to avoid increase in fuel consumption by the car, it is not necessary to go on high speed with the disconnected raising transfer during long intervals of time.
Emergency operation
After operation of emergency operation of functioning of AT the next inclusion of ignition leads to 8-second activation of a control lamp About/D OFF in a flashing mode after preliminary continuous burning within 2 seconds. Though car movement in a similar situation remains possible, it is necessary to remember that the range of switching of transmission will be limited by the first three transfers.
Activation of emergency operation occurs in extreme situations at excessive pro-slippings of driving wheels or repeating sharp braking. And violation of serviceability of functioning of electric contours is not an indispensable condition of transition to emergency operation. In a similar situation it is necessary to switch off ignition, to wait about three seconds and again to turn a key in the situation ON, the system should return to a mode of normal functioning, otherwise it is necessary to address on car repair shop for carrying out diagnostics and necessary regenerative repair of AT.
