10.30. Removal, check of a condition and installation of a steering column

On some models the column has a safe design and a nazhimaniye on its shaft with excessive effort can lead to emergency folding of assembly! Do not make attempts of independent repair of mechanisms of folding and adjustment of an inclination of a column! |

Removal
|
|
- Deaktiviruyte SRS (see. Head Electric equipment).
- Bring forward wheels of the car into rectilinear situation.
- Remove a steering wheel (see. Removal and installation of a steering wheel).
- By means of a center punch mark the adjusting position U-shaped of the kardanny hinge.
- Turn out the bottom coupling bolt of sharnirny assembly.
- Remove the top and bottom sections of a casing of a steering column.
- Remove a cable of blocking of switching of AT (see. Head Transmission line).
- Remove a cable of the indicator of situation AT.
- Disconnect electroconducting of podrulevy switches, the lock of ignition and a spiral cable drum.
- Remove assembly of the combined switch (see. Removal and installation of assembly of the combined podrulevy switches).
- Remove the left bottom section of furnish of the dashboard.
- Turn out bolts of the bottom basic arm of a column and bolts of fastening of the boot / panel of a floor.
- Turn out bolts of fastening of the top basic arm of a column.
- Remove a column, having accurately involved it in car salon.

Check
|
|
- If violation of smoothness of rotation of a steering wheel took place, estimate degree of wear of bearings of a steering column.
- Check existence in greasing bearings.
- Examine a sleeve of the case of a column on existence of deformations and other mechanical damages.

- If the car had an accident, measure geometrical parameters of a column and the top hinge.

The top hinge is located between reduktsionny assembly of a steering drive and the bottom shaft of a steering column. |
|
- If results of measurements fall outside the limits admissible ranges (see. Specifications), replace a column assembled.
|
- Check the adjusting sizes of the driving mechanism of adjustment of an inclination of a column. Compare results of measurements to requirements
of Specifications, in case of need make column replacement.

|
Installation
|
|
- Make sure that forward wheels of the car still are in rectilinear situation.
- From salon pass assembly of a steering column in an opening in a car floor. Make sure of correctness of combination of adjusting labels of a shaft of a gear wheel and the U-shaped kardanny hinge.
|
- Connect the bottom hinge to a gear wheel shaft — track, that the coupling bolt appeared will develop to cut on a shaft.
|
|
- Establish the top and bottom basic arms of a column, and also the bottom boot with a fixing flange.
- By hand tighten all bolts of the bottom arm and a fixing collar.
- Tighten a bolt of the bottom kardanny hinge.
- Tighten nuts and bolts of the top and bottom arms with demanded effort.
- Restore initial connection of electroconducting.
- Establish sections of a casing of a steering column and a steering wheel (see.
Removal and installation of a steering wheel).
- Tighten a nut of fastening of a steering wheel with demanded effort.
- Establish the pillow module a safety / overlay of a horn. Check serviceability of functioning of a sound signal, the lock of ignition and podrulevy switches.
- Check correctness of centering of a steering wheel (see. Checks and adjustments of a steering wheel).

- Check serviceability of functioning of the mechanism of adjustment of an inclination of a column and its adjusting sizes.
